JULY 2024 - Traveling Alone - Solitude - "Thinking Path"

Welcome,

I love the opportunity to travel alone, how about you?

What I like most is the solitude and flexibility to use my time as I choose…

I find traveling alone presents a perfect opportunity for clearing my thoughts, reflecting on my future while exploring history of unfamiliar places and having interesting conversations with individuals on my way to my destination.

Stephanie Rosenbloom, a staff columnist for the travel section of the New York Times in her book - Alone time – Four Seasons, Four Cities and the Pleasures of Solitude shares her traveling alone experiences (Paris, Istanbul, Florence, and New York City) and her appreciation of the solitude.

Stephanie uses her traveling alone experiences as research and examples in her book to begin her process of understanding why she values her solitude moments. She summarizes in the quote below:

" I began jotting down those that, through cities and seasons, helped make my alone time rich and meaningful; snapshotting the moment, trying new things, being present, being playful, communing with art, cultivating anticipation, finding silence, rolling with whatever comes, walking, listening, reminiscing, remembering that everything is fleeting"

She found the value of time alone solitude supplies a new way of thinking which she calls a “thinking path.”

Alone Time has provided me an understanding of why I enjoy solitude, it is my “thinking path” in life.

Looking forward to meeting you over a cup of coffee and conversation.
