Welcome back!
April is the month of “Tax filing.” Traditionally this is the month all citizens start the tedious process of gathering 1099’s, W2’s, investment tax documents and the backup needed to prepare their annual tax returns.
For myself, while gathering the documents for filing taxes, I take the time to review and update information on my end-of-life check list which consist of legal, medical, and technical password documents so they are in order when needed.
To help begin your “check list” I highly recommend reading - Because it Matters – A Guide to Getting Your Life in Order before you Die by Cheyenne R. Mease. Cheyenne helps the reader navigate this sensitive, emotional, and overwhelming process with empathy and encouragement. She supplies tools to help the reader:
· CHECK LIST -A comprehensive “check list” of all items to think about, pull together and update.
· REAL LIFE STORIES - A section at the end of the book of “real life stories” of what others have experience without the proper documents.
My check list gives me a “peace of mind” and updating information is easy at the time of preparing my taxes.
Tax season can be stressful, so remember to take one- step- at- a- time and breathe.
Looking forward to having coffee and conversation with you!
