Over the years, like many of you, l took part in the tradition of declaring a “New Years Resolution”.
The New Year is a perfect time to begin a new routine of setting a goal to change behavior. Unfortunately,perhaps like you, in the past I have failed to achieve my New Years Resolution.
Why do we fail in achieving our New Years Resolution goals?
To help answer this question, I began my search for an alternative to the traditional New Years Resolution. I believe I found an option in the book titled Streaking - the Simple Practice of Conscious, Consistent Actions that create Life-changing results by Jeffery J. Downs and Jami L. Downs.
We have all heard of the “Winning Streak” most commonly used in recording wins in sports and gambling. Jeffery and Jami explain the “Streaking” foundation is the “consecutive streak “which “requires consistently doing something without an explicit end to it”.
Jeffery and Jami share their firsthand experiences of how and why they developed, practiced and perfected the method called “Streaking”. They discuss the “Streaking” concept, as a “laughable simple activity” which can be easily worked into your life routine. They outline the rules which include recording each time a streak was completed. They explain the benefits of completing your STREAK over a period of time provides “one a positive feeling of confidence and accomplishment wining every day using the “Streaking” method. The Streaking Method basic 3 rules are:
STREAK must be “laughably simple”.
Format: [Action] at least [number of times] & [daily, weekly, or monthly].
Example: read 1 page of a book daily.

The record provides credibility, confirmation and affirmation.

The STREAKING METHOD helped me adapt my routine to change behavior. I especially like the flexibility one can start and stop a Streak at any time. I am inviting you to try this method in the upcoming New Year 2024/2025.
